The Deschutes River Conservancy works with willing landowners to lease water rights for instream use in the Deschutes Basin. Leasing your water right instream through a state administered process creates for one year creates a one-year record of beneficial use for the leased water right. Leases can be from 1 year up to 5 years with unlimited renewal opportunity. Split season leasing, with water instream for part of the season and out of stream use for part of the season is another option. The DRC has a long history of partnering with irrigation districts and patrons (with district approval) and non-irrigation district water right holders.
