WWWMP is Purchasing Water Rights

The Walla Walla Watershed Management Partnership is purchasing senior surface and groundwater rights for its Exempt Well Mitigation Bank.

Locally, Washington Department of Ecology requires mitigation for consumptive water use by new exempt wells. Mitigation is required when the following conditions are met throughout the Walla Walla Watershed (Washington only):

1) Drawing from the shallow gravel aquifer, and
2) Located in an area zoned for land parcels of 10 acres or less.
